Hi everybody! I'm new to this site, even though I've been lurking for a while. I am the winner of the 31 Days of the Dragon Contest at last100.com (as you can check HERE). Steve (from last100.com) has been great and shipped the prize package last Wednesday (June 4th). The estimated time of arrival was Monday, June 9th. The shipment was made by FedEx through International Priority Service. I've been tracking the package since it shipped and I was surprised at how quickly it arrived in San Diego, California, considering it was shipped from England. I am located in Mexico in a city bordering the US. Suffice to say that I could drive to San Diego from where I live and be there in a very short time.
The problem is this. Since the package arrived to the San Diego FedEx facility in Friday morning (June 6th) the tracking page has displayed the same information everyday (except for the weekend, June 7th and 8th). The message it displays looks something like this:
Jun 6, 2008
9:30 AM
In transit
SAN DIEGO, CA
Paperwork available for non-FedEx broker
9:30 AM
At local FedEx facility
SAN DIEGO, CA
And that has been repeated everyday since Friday (the times of course are different, but they've all been before 10:20 AM).
Yesterday I decided to give them a call, since they have exceeded the ETA (which by the way, has stopped appearing in the tracking page). After many tries (remember, I'm in Mexico so 1-800-GoFedEx doesn't work for me, had to search for an international number) I finally spoke to a customer service representative who only gave me the following news: The package is in customs in San Diego and the only thing I can do is wait for it to be processed. I offered to go pick it up, but of course he refused.
I know that "patience is a virtue" and I am really patient. In fact I could wait a week or more considering the prize its really worth it, but I'm starting to worry. Is it normal for a shipment to last that much to clear customs. Has anyone been in a similar situation (a shipment made internationally to Mexico through FedEx being stuck in customs).
Oh, and more importantly. Does anyone know what this means: "Paperwork available for non-FedEx broker"?
P.S: Excuse me if I made some kind of mistake in spelling or grammar. English is not my first language.

First...
CONGRATS on the win!
Anyway, it's a computer so it would take a little longer in customs than other things. Shouldn't take too much longer before it clears. -
Yesterday I was able to find the email address of the San Diego FedEx facility manager and I asked him for information on the package. He put me in contact with another FedEx employee who in turn put me in contact with a customs agent. Today she asked me to send certain documentation, which I did. A while ago the tracking page updated and it now displays activity as "Clearance delay" and location as Tijuana [the city where I live]. Does anyone know what "Clearance delay" means?
