I have a HDX16 that came with Vista Premium. I want to install Vista Ultimate, but I would like to install some applications that came with the machine. In particular, MediaSmart and the Cyberlink DVD tools. I looked at the DVDs that came with the machine, but they are not in a format that allows me to run any kind of install to get to the individual applications. it wants to do a full recovery that includes the OS.Does anyone know how to install the individual apps. Thanks.

Go to 'Recovery Manager' in the Windows Start directory > 'Advanced Options' > 'Software program re-installation'.

If you have the HP recovery disc with V-ultimate, these programs are on it - Available from HP for 26 bucks plus shipping.

You should also be able to access the same recovery options using the original recovery disk.

Thanks. i did find this option. Problem is, My Vista ultimate DVD did not come from HP, so if I install it, the Recovery option will not be present in the All Programs menu and i don't see a way to access directly from the Recovery DVDs. Since the machine came with Home Premium, I'm sure I won't be able to get the Ultimate recovery disc for thr $26 charge from HP.
