Why does the 16" look bigger than the 17"

EDIT: oh, i got it, its taller, but not as wide.

i like the design of the hdx16 and hdx18 also. i would love to get an HDX18t, but its not in my budget... i spent all on my current PC. maybe next year...

I knew it! HDX16t is as same dimensions as a normal 15", even smaller than some Asus 15" models etc. :D
18" is too big for me, so I ordered the 16", which looks pretty good worthy buy (used coupon, otherwise it's too expensive for the GPU it provides)

It's the same in Canada :(
We're forced to buy left over parts because the retailers will customize it to whatever give them the most profit.

The viewing angles seem to be pretty close to each other, if not the same. The HDX does have a brighter screen. I haven't really used either enough to say I prefer one screen over the other.
The number pad seems to have a-lot of flex to it.

    The requested shots (i think):

    Thanks for the shots!

I'm sold. Except we can't customize them in Canada :( I wonder how the warranty would work if I buy it in the states and go and pick it up.

I've never understood, why can't people in other countries customize theirs?

Thanks for the great pics! I was deciding between the dv5 and the HDX16 for a long time since I don't really need a big screen, but was never able to see them both in person. Can you tell me if the area surrounding the keyboard is shinier on the dv7 or the HDX16? Which one do you think looks better in general?

which resolution did u get 720p or 1080p. hard to tell from the pics cuz the taskbar looks a bit bigger on the hdx16 in one shot but the same size in another one. just trying to gauge the 720p screen quality but everyones loves "full HD" (well some cuz then they complain cuz its too tiny lol. i havent had a wuxga screen since my inspiron 8600 so i need a refresher on how it looks and compares. might get the 720p tho cuz i remember being a bit annoyed sometimes with that res.

I agree with you. I sent my DV7t back with the intent to get the HDX18 or 16. The 18 is just still too big and the number pad and the touch pad on the HDX16 are much smaller than the DV7t. I didn't like the infinity and that was the reason I took it back. I think I will reorder the DV7t with all the goodie minus the infinity option. The screen on the HDX is not small, but you get more screen with the DV7t. I just wish the Dv7t had the ultra brightview.
