I have an HDX 16-1140us laptop and wanted to upgrade the processor from the P8600 to maybe a T9600 or T9800. Any Ideas if this is even possible, would there be a conflict with motherboard and new processor like compatibility wise? Is there any major difference from P8600 and the T9600 or T9800? Any help is appreciated.

Also is it a hard process to replace the processor myself. Was wondering if it is a complicated process.

Replacing it is definitely possible, but the real question is if it's worth it. That depends on what you use your computer for. For day to day tasks and most games you won't notice a difference. If you are maxing out your CPU often, then you will get a benefit. It shouldn't be difficult to replace, just try to find a manual from HP support.

What are you using your computer for? No point in paying any money if you see no difference at all. A faster CPU doesn't necessarily mean your computer will be faster...

Monitor your cpu usage over the course of the next week, if it's pegged at 80-100% most of the time, it's time to upgrade. if it's below 50% most of the time, the cpu is fine.
