Hey everyone. So we've been using a Linksys G 802.11g Wired Router and its going out so its time for an upgrade. We have COX Cable internet service. Download speeds roughly 14mb/s uploads roughly around 5mb/s when the router is functioning perfectly. Since the HDX16 is equipped with a wireless N card I figured why not go ahead and get a Wireless N Router? So here is where I need help. My friend had a D-Link Router and I had so many connectivity issues it was ridiculous. And after doing some research some people said that D-Link and the HDX16 Wireless cards really just dont seem to be very compatible. Dunno if thats true or not.
Router will be used to power 1 laptop and my dad's desktop computer in a roughly 3200 sq feet single story house. The desktop right now does not have a wireless card so I will need to get one for that as well if you have any suggestions, however my dad only uses it to surf the net and do streaming radio. So a wireless N card is not necessary.. I would like to be able to use my laptop anywhere in the house since right now im stuck using an ethernet cable solely in my room. Occasionally there will be 2 laptops on the network. I play games like DoD1.3 and Source and CS:S as well as WoW and Call of Duty 4 on the laptop. What would you guys say would be the best router for my needs? Also if possible i would like to keep it to best buy only since I have a gift card with them.
Much appreciated guys.
