    Hy folks,

My HP HDX-16 1005EA is peeling off (the lid's back), also the A key on the keyboard is getting black, and actually is the second time it happens (I've replaced the keyboard before, for the same issue).

    Here some pictures:

    (click for large image)

The laptop is 2 years and half old.

    Anyone having the same problems?

I was trying to find a HP support e-mail on their website, they have a lot of stuff there, but a simply e-mail contact, I see what they can do.

Do you guys have a contact there, or at least the support e-mail? (In USA)

    thanks everyone!

I'd like to email them, so I can actually show the pics.

Anyway guys, if they don't fix, is there anything I can do? I mean a new cover or a nice sticker???

Look for laptop skins. HP does not cover cosmetic wear on their laptops. It obviously is not a defect if it lasted 2 years, and is more then likely user wear.

To me looks like a defect, once the decide to use this fancy paint and wont last even 2 years and half for a $1200 top of the line laptop (in 2009).

Don't get me wrong, I had other laptops before and never had problems with the paint and keyboard peeling off.

I'll check for the skins, thanks for the advice!

Not sure how anyone can not realize its a horribly painted laptop. Really cheap stuff. I don't see any reason for peeling, but the paint layer seems so thin and cheaply applied. Then again, its true, they probably won't cover this. Even their care package of extended warranty does not cover cosmetics...so I guess sleeve is the way to go. Sucks, but oh well.

There is a way to contact them via email and I did that multiple times from the UK website.

Wear and tear on the palmrest and keys (especially WASD if you're a gamer) is normal on any laptop. The flaking of the paint is something else, that I would not expect.

So far I couldn't even find a skin for it.

Does anyone know where I can find skin for it?

had a crazy idea. Maybe you can take it to an auto paint shop and have them paint the lid for you? haha, it would look very shiney and new, but wonder what they will charge you if they do it.
