Now this works fine in IE.. but going to a site like rarlab to get winzip when you click the link to the file it just does nothing..
If I right click and say open in another window it gives me the option to save it.
Also getting newsgroup stuff if I download an NZB file it should automatically open my news reader which it does in IE.. but in FF when I click the button the generate the NZB file it does nothing.
Any type of file extension that should do anything it does not give me the option to save/run.. Works fine on all the other machines just trying to figure out what kinda weird thing HP might have done.
I did try this stuff, did not work:
:whoknows:
-
Tired uninstall and re-install of FF Still no go..
There has to be a weird setting that HP uses to cause this? -
Are you running something with a pop up blocker? Cause that's what it sounds like. There are many pop up blockers that are very suspicious of executable files.
Perhaps an internet security suite? Yahoo or google toolbar? -

Thanks for the input though -
Well in a last ditch effort did a full system restore.. made sure to say later or no to all the security stuff during setup... First thing I did was download and install firefox 3.03.. went to rarlab.com/download.htm and tried to click on the first file to download winrar... Samething.. it acts like it's loading the page, and does nothing no save as, no run no nothing changes... If I right click and say open in new tab.. saveas box pops right up
-
If you hold down the control button and left click on the link it will bring the save as link up. I'll have to look into this further. -
Thanks for looking into it... I tired disabling the pop-up blocker in Firefox as well and no go.. Will try the control click when I am back at the house. Just wierd as heck since I never ran into it on another FF install. -
Your right if I cont-click it will work because it tries to open the link in another tab and then the save as option pops up..
Still can not figure out what setting to change so a regular click works though. -
Through a VERY long process of multiple multiple reimages I figured out the problem..
Under the Add/remove programs there is a Digital Personala thing or something like that.
Un-install that and BAMN Firefox behaves how it is supposed to.. I think that is for the fingerprint scanner though so guess that is not going to work
