Okay, so when I pop in a Blu-ray movie, I'm getting pretty anemic sound and I need to turn the volume all the way up to get it to a decent level. Even then, it's pretty weak. However, when I'm playing a game (like WoW), the sound is big and full and I actually need to turn it down most of the time.
Why is the sound output so bad when watching BR discs? Anyone else experience this difference in volume and quality of sound? My DV7 was the same way with BR discs. Maybe there is a setting I'm missing to adjust this?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

I had ther same issue when we bought our DV7. I found a menu item in the HP Blu Ray Media Smart software, I think it was labeled Audio boost or something like that.
Click the little Gear icon on the bottom menu, a new window will pop up on the right side, then click on Audio tab and go to Audio Boost and choose from one of 3 boost levels.
I hope this helps, it made a big difference on my laptop. -
That's exactly what I needed! There is also an option called dynamic range compression, and setting it to "noisy environment" boosts the volume even more. Seems like you should just be able to turn up the volume that much in the first place, but this works.
Thanks for the tip!
