For some reason my DVDRW drive in my Dv5000t isn't being recognized by the computer. It does have power so I am assuming that it isn't a connectivity issue. But when I try to play DVDs CDRoms and so on it doesn't even pop up in my computer. The last time it worked I did a disk cleanup right after so I am thinking that maybe the drivers got deleted or something. Still kind of new to this whole thing so I am still learning.

ANY help that anyone can offer would be truly appreciated.

Try uninstalling the drive from Device manager. Windows should recognise the drive the next reboot and install the necessary drivers. If it still doesnt work then it is most likely hardware fault.

I just figured I'd let everyone know how I resolved this issue.

I tried to reinstall the drivers and I deleted the upper and lower filters in the registry. Neither of these worked.

When I had exhausted all other means, I finally tried taking out the screw drivers and reseating my drive. This immediatley fixed the problem. Evidently the connection wasn't quite hooked up all the way and by reseating the drive it readjusted everything. This was pretty simple and I wished that I had tried that first.

I hope this little piece of information will save someone some aggravation in the future.
