Anyone have a walkthrough or picture guided step by step on how to take apart a compaq V5000. ( Better than the one provided by compaq) My model is the V5206om. I want to replace the cpu and am having trouble removing the switch cover. Isn't there an easier way just to get the bottom cover of the laptop off. Anyone have any ideas or has anyone done this. Please help!!! I have removed all the screws on the bottom of the laptop in every section.

It says i have to remove
    a. the Hard drive (Section 5.4) DID THAT
    b. Memory/Mini PCI module compartment cover DID THAT
    (Section 5.6)
    c. Optical drive (Section 5.9) DID THAT
    d. Switch cover (Section 5.10) Stuck. can't get bugger off.
    e. Keyboard (Section 5.11)
    f. Display assembly (Section 5.12)
    g. Base enclosure (Section 5.13)
    h. System board (Section 5.15)
    i. Heat sink (Section 5.18)

HP has some nice videos of their laptops being disassembled...

Just select your notebook model series(V5000) and select FRU Remove/Replace to see full list of videos. From the look of it all you need to do is to remove 2 screws from the battery bay and pop the 4 notches located in the front edge of the switch cover.

Yep, great link Miner. I just discovered the HP Media Service Library a week ago and it has some interesting sections (like a dv6500z). Too bad there are no specs............
