    Hi all,

I have a pavillion TX2000 and have been experiencing a very weird problem. Recently my AC adapter died, and I bought a new one (genuine HP).

When the laptop is off, or turned on but not in windows 7 it charges properly without any problems.

If it gets into windows 7, charging becomes problematic as it keeps stopping the charge and restarting it.

As a result, the battery is drained instead of charged overtime (slower than if the laptop runs just on battery with no AC adapter plugged). If I remove the battery, the laptop won't stay on just with the AC Adapter, it will turn off as soon as it gets in windows 7.

I repeat however that if I do not get into windows 7 the charger works fine and the laptop can stay a whole day on while for example in the bios, just on AC adapter with no battery plugged. It also works if I log on windows under safe mode.

I tried uninstalling AC Adapter and Battery from device manager and have it reinstalled and nothing. Still same problem.

I believe it is a problem of windows 7, anyone knows any trick on how to solve this?

Are you sure the new adapter is the same wattage as the old one?

Hi! Yeah it's exactly the same adapter, genuine, and for my model. 65W both of them. If it weren't the same wattage, or it was the adapter I think it wouldn't work at all. But it does work in windows safe mode, or in bios or ubuntu with no problems.... Right?

Not necessarily. The power draw can vary depending on what you're running and what components are being used. I would return the adapter though and see if you have the same problem. If so, it could be a problem with the motherboard.
