    HELP!! Battery Meter Problem

    hello, im sorry if this thread has already been answered/posted,

    i have a compaq presario v3030ca and just upgraded to winxp pro. everything works fine, but the battery meter doesn't work. it just says im running from AC power. i called hp it tech and they were no help whatsoever. i went and installed all the drivers from the site but none worked please someone help :eek:

    Do you see the battery being recognised in the device manager? You should see two entries under battery, one for the AC power and the other for the battery. Most likely you"ll have to uninstall & reinstall the acpi controls in device manager.

    Like miner said reinstall the ACPI controls. I had the same problem and someone here suggested I do that and it worked

    and no i dont see it in the device manager, there are infact 2 unknown devices.

    Well, try this...right click on the Unknown device and follow the prompts to search for the drivers on your system. Select No if it asks to search in Windows update and specifiy the location for it to search the drivers as C:/Windows/system32. Hopefully it should find and install the appropriate drivers. Do the same for the other unknown device as well.

    I've just removed Vista from my DV6000t and replaced it with XP (that's another story!), and since then I'm having the exact same issue as you're describing.
