So (I'm an idiot) after the whole Radiance screen screw-up, finally getting HP to honor price, get an Envy that's defective (keyboard), had to pay for a 2nd one so I wouldn't be without a PC, I NEED TO SEND THE FIRST ENVY BACK TODAY OR BE CHARGED FOR 2 ENVY 14 PCs.

I've been using the MS Office Starter that I managed after saying "not accept" to ads several times got to run w/o a problem or ads (on the first envy) the problem came when I tried to move/open some files to the new Envy. It launched the pay for it edition of Office instead of Starter...so (mistakenly) thinking I could fix it with going back to a restore point, instead it completely UNinstalled Office Starter somehow - the whole folder. (How did system restore UNinstall something all on it's own?)

So thinking (mistakenly) I could use the recovery discs that took me HOURS (6-7) to create on DVDs from the first Envy to find MS Office Starter...I find out that 1) the 7 recovery discs I'd made and labeled 1-7 are, once opened, are somehow all but 1, all copies of disc 4 only. Then I check the 2 SW set-up discs...only to find no MS Office listed at all, let alone the Starter version.

Help! I really need to be able to use Office Starter as I'm in the middle of a pjct (and happened with the recovery discs?) because if I don't have the first one FedEx/shipped dated today -- I will be charged for 2 Envy's (I'd already received a return extension on #1 so I know asking HP for that won't help). Also, you'd think - just go burn a copy from the first envy but I don't see it in the program files to copy, just the execute.

(It's almost 2am and I've been on hold waiting for a tech support person for almost an hour now.)

As you can tell I'm not very tech savvy -- please help!

That only gets me a 30 day or w/e trial version, not the Starter that is unlimited -- I don't want to have to end up paying for Office when Starter (that only comes factory pre-loaded) is all I need and is free HP OEM.

If you have both envys that are identical, meaning some model, then just do a swap of HDD if either of your envy's installation is still perfect.

Now that's a thought, I'll do that if (duh) doing a recovery and reverting to factory doesn't work. (Sorry it's almost 4am and I had 2 hrs of sleep last night so my brain is not working too well.) I'll still have to debloat it again but hopefully I can try again to make system recovery discs (have no idea why when it had me making 7 dvds it made most of them all disc 4.)

I was going to suggest that

And if by any chance he saved his files as .docx / .xlsx , he can use some online converters for them to work on openoffice.
