Okay so I have a Compaq Presario V2000 notebook that i bought about 3 years ago and it was working fine for the first year or so than out of no where I left my computer on the carpet and went somewhere for about 2 hours. When I came back I didnt know about i was just using it and everything, then when i went to go unplug it from the back of the computer it was MELTED to the inside of the computers outlet. So i didnt know what to do i tried yanking it out, and finally it came out. The tip of the charger that is made out of plastic, which was yellow, turned into a dark black and looked like it has been melted. So I got a new charger and it burned up and so what. Than took it to a laptop place near where i live and heard about 3 days later that the motherboard is FRIED.I was pissed. Recentaly my dad got the same computer so I took my battery and put it in his and charged it, put it back in mine. Started right up babe. MAKES No effing sense  but idk what to do replace the charger port in my computer or what. PLEASE HELP ME i dont want to waste my christmas on a brand new computer when i could just get the one I have fixed.

Seems that your power jack is shorted. You can get replacement jacks from ebay, but the computer has to be completely disassembled to reach the jack, and you'll need to be handy with a soldering iron to replace the jack. If you're up for it, the instructions on how to disassemble your computer are available on HP's website ( www.hp.com) in the support and downloads section.
