so today i was driving and i braked abruptly and i had a can of sunkist in the rear seat. it flew to the back of my seat and exploded all over my Probook which was on the floor of the rear seat. i know that the laptop is spill resistant, but thats only on the keys! my laptop got soaked all around and in between the lid and the keys.

so i let it dry a couple hours [it was in hibernate] and now when i press the power button and it lights up for a couple seconds and goes off.

That's pretty awful. The salt and sugar in the soda are probably shorting things out.

I almost suggested rinsing it with distilled water, but there's no way to guarantee that all the salt and sugar get rinsed out.

You'd have to put the machine in a bag of white rice after the distilled water rinsing to absorb all of the moisture. But again, no telling what's been shorted.

You should probably take the HD out if you're gonna try powering it up and on over and over again, just to be safe so you don't risk losing data (if it's still there)

That really sucks man. Good luck.

ok now i have the weirdest problem, i swapped drives with another notebook, and it reads it, but on the original notebook it does not recognize it, but it spins up.

but then i tried a different hard drive on the notebook, and it works.
