I'm trying to find out what program is giving me this notification. I think it might display other notifications, but I was able to get a screen shot of this one.
It's really annoying with the external keyboard I use, which toggles the NumLock EVERY time I press a key on the num pad.
I want to kill this application if I can find out what it is.
Thanks for the help.

This isn't a specific application as far as I know... its just built into the laptop. The only notifications i've seen are caps, num, and scroll, however I think you have a problem with your external keyboard if the numpad causes this to show up all the time--that shouldn't be happening.
The only thing I can think of is to disable the hp applications for quick launch and stuff like that, and maybe its controlled by one of those. But short of just killing process I'm not sure how you'd figure out what that is... -
my ibm thinkpad t40p does the samething. So the software might not be HP, it could be built into windows.

i'm not sure i follow what is happening.... you have an external keyboard, and when you use the numpad on the external keyboard, no matter which numpad button you press, the numlock notification comes up? i'm just trying to get a better grasp of what is going on.
-
yup...i think it toggles the numpad so that it doesn't really interfere with the laptop keyboard (if numlock is on some of the keys "become" the numpad). i do remember the installation program recognizing this is a laptop and asked me to confirm.

how to turn on this notifications?
is this special program or windows feature?
-
i'm trying to turn it off. i'm also trying to find out if it is a special program or comes with any computer. my old XPS M140 did not have this notification thing
-
I know this thread is old but I found out what is causing the notification.
Do you see the little blue icon with the read B in it? B like Bluetooth? Yup, this is it. BTTtray.exe. Close it and there should be no more notifications. It did work in my case. -
I'll give it a shot! Thanks for bringing it back up!
If it is BTTray.exe, I'll just disable it since I don't use the BT on my notebook. -
yup...BTTray is it!
-
Yeah, it's amazing how a simple things like that can drive you nuts.
-
the funny thing is that Bluetooth has NOTHING to do with Caps or Num Lock!
-
I had a similar problem when I installed the Dell BT stack on my XPS. It can be disabled by tweaking some registry settings.
DO NOT EDIT REGISTRY SETTINGS unless you know what you're doing. Back it up beforehand too, just to be safe.
I forget exactly where they were, but it wasn't hard to find, you just had to change one item from 1 to 0 or true to false or something like that. -
ah...no matter. I don't need bluetooth anyway...I'll just shut it all down and deal with it if I ever get a bluetooth device. Thank you though!
NO MORE ANNOYING POPUPS!!!
