I am very interested in the HP "Thrive" dv6700t featured on the nbr home page a couple days ago. I'm told it's basically the same at the dv6700t or dv6500t. I've been reading up on the 6500t (I can't find much about the dv6700t).
Do any of you have this laptop or one of the other special edition laptops based on the same line? Any comments on this laptop and/or the others in it's line would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 6500t and am upgrating to the 67000t. Both are basically the same but the 6700 has the 256MB video card upgraded from the 6500's 128 MB card. The 6700 just recently came out which is why there is not much printed info on it.
The special editions, as far as I can tell are just the outer plastic color and they throw in a wireless mouse and headphones.
Check the coupons section in the HP forum. HP currently has a coupon and is a good deal on the DV6700 special edition if you are ok with the white case and can use the wireless mouse... -
ok ... so I found a best buy that has the 'Thrive' in stock. Unfortunately I was very much underwhelmed. In my opinion (whatever that's worth) it looks a lot better in the few pics I've seen online than it does in person.
The pattern on the lid isn't as subtle as it looks in the pics. The color isn't as much a copper as it is sort of a dark pinkish sorta red color. The brushed aluminum look around the keyboard is nice, but it feels like plastic, so the illusion doesn't last.
The keyboard feels good and I played a bit with the webcam. The cam is nice. nice clear picture even in the lousy best buy lighting.
the screen seamed ok to me. nothing special, but it would be plenty good enough for me.
It's not terrible. It's a nice looking laptop. It's just that I was hoping it would be amazing. I wasn't. It's just nice. -
what was the price on it at best buy?

I think you are better off customizing one for yourself on hp.com, there is a very good coupon right now for (I think) $300 off the Special Edition series.
And you can customize it the way you want. After all, isnt that most important (althought I do admit that I am drawn to HP over others because they do look nicer)
I did also see the same unit at best buy the other day. I liked the new color, but it wasnt as dazzling as I thought.
note to Lithus-thanks for the heads up. I did get a new unit at a few extra bucks but I also upgraded the HD...thanks
