    Hello!

I wrote here a couple of weeks ago concerning my "whining" new notebook (Pavilion DV 5037EA). Well, now two weeks later I got a replacement and that noise is still there. It's not that bad an issue anymore so I think we are just talking about a bad feature here. So that's all about that. This time I have a new question and I wish getting help especially from those people who have experience on HP's and Toshiba Hard drives.

So this is the case: The official product specs state that the notebook should have a 4200 rpm hard drive. Instead, when I check the system specs in Windows, it tells that I have a Toshiba MK6032GAX HD. According to Toshiba website MK6032GAX is a 5400 rpm hard drive. So which hard drive do I have, a 4200 rpm or 5400 rpm? I'm not asking this but just for the sake that this latter notebook has much noisier HD. That would be logical if the new one really is 5400 rpm HD instead of 4200. Did Toshiba upgrade their hard drives recently?

    Cheers,

    Niiles

I think you have answered your own question on what is "in" your machine.

On which hd may be installed at any given point in time, that depends what they have in stock... what they can get a good price on, what the market is wanting.

For example several weeks ago on the dv8000t people were able to order with a 7,200rpm 100gig sata drive... Around the 2nd of this month they weren't showing when I ordered mine.. Only 5,400's

Most people are going to opt for a 5,400 or 7,200, over a 4,200

On way to check on what is going in is to check Hp site and see what drives are being offered.

You just got lucky. The Toshiba drives are not the best but should serve you well. I have a MK8026GAX and the only complaint is that it runs a bit hot (L2000) and turns off at 56 C.
