I would like to know as well as I have just discovered one in the lower left hand corner of my screen. Mine was purchased less than 2 weeks ago, however it is a hp refurbished unit. I will call hp tommorow and update as i find out.

Industry standard I believe is 5 or more. And there's some caveats to that as well. Easiest way to find out is to call HP or perhaps even a Google search for "HP dead pixel policy."

I can tell you for sure its "5 or more" because HP replaced my LCD for no reason when I sent it in for a motherboard issue and then proceeded to replace the LCD with one that has a bright red spot top center of the LCD which they didnt want to replace since its not 5 or more =/
