    Noticed today my new DV6 motherboard is a Foxtronn not a Quanta -(unless there's some labeling commonality i don't know about)
    Kitdate on the box was 28/09/09

    Googling a bit bought up some August news that HP & Foxtronn are jointly investing $3 Billion into a China based laptop plant that can output 20 million laptops a year.

    In addition, the city also granted HP and Foxconn a discounted corporate income tax rate of just 15 percent, he said. The usual rate is 25 percent.A separate official also said Chongqing will extend the second runway of the city's airport by 400 meters to better meet HP's logistical needs.

    Nice, but keep in mind that most laptops are produced in China anyway. Last I checked, most of HP's facilities were located in Shanghai so it is definitely a positive move to open another plant in a different region.

    @newsposter: Seriously...

    Ah, but once the U.S. unemployment rate exceeds 10% and American workers are willing to work for $3/hr and food stamps, we should see an amazing trend in which global companies will seek to relocate their production facilities in the United States. All of the abandoned American factories can be unshuttered and Made in America labels can be stuck on everything from laptops to toasters. Warning to Chinese production workers: don't get too comfortable and watch those credit card balances. Take a lesson from us!
