I have unplugged the power cord, removed battery, pressed down on power button for 30 seconds, plugged back in the power cord and still nothing. Computer was working fine last night. I can't help but think it is a shortage somewhere. When pressing the power button to turn on the computer, the light DOES NOT light up. I do however have the light on at the power cord where it plugs into the computer. Does anyone have any suggestions. I one time today by accident got the power button light to come on but the computer did not power all the way up it tried. Then the power button just started a slow blink.

I did see a post somewhere else about the magnet in the computer but I have found that on the top and it seems to be working as you can hold a small metal object to it and stays in place.

Totally lost, if anyone has a suggestion it would be greatly appreciated.

Nancy, I'm working on a g72 and had a prob such as yours. Pull the keyboard and look up at the upper left corner.
You'll see a single ribbon with a tiny white lock. Pull the battery before disassemble and then look at the small ribbon.
Plug the power in and GENTLY wiggle the ribbon and see if it doesn't light off while pressing the button. Crap
gets built up at the connections. To pull the unit apart, go to YOUTUBE for a breakdown.

Also reset the mem modules into their respective slots, or better yet use
only 1 mem module to test.
