Got a HP Pavilian 17 laptop (17-ab051na) with Core i7 & 960M Graphics & 17.3" FHD IPS screen. There are quite noticeable brightmarks on the screen, so I'm thinking about replacing the screen. I can only track down the IPS panel for AB200NA (Core i7-7700HQ, 1050 GTX) - from what I understand, it's the successor to the 6th gen model. From the info I can find on LaptopScreen.com - the panels spec seems the same?

    6th Gen (what I have): http://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/HP-Compaq/PAVILION 17-AB051NA/
7th Gen (model of the screen I can find): http://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/HP-Compaq/PAVILION 17-AB200NA/

This is the screen I can track down:

If I were to swap the screen (intended for the 7th gen model), in theory it should work, right?

Sounds like it's the same laptop with the same same chassis but just a different processor so it's a yes on that, but you could check with the seller first, just message via eBay. The HP parts and replacement document for this laptop is here: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05759407, page 66 they have the disassembly. You could ask the seller to verify the screen has the pin connectors in the same location as indicated in the guide.

    Good luck!
