Hello all, I've been looking around trying to figure out whether or not the RAM and hard drive in the HP 2133 Mini Note is user-replaceable and if the warranty is voided. Anyone find any documentation regarding these parts?

The ram and hard drive can be accessed by removing the battery and then removing the three screws behind the battery. There is no warranty sticker and this is even suggested by HP on the one of the early presentation videos.

Ofcourse, it is upgradable but HP hasnt made it as easy they possibly could have done. I admit, its a small notebok and packaging concerns might have lead to them not providing an easy method. But as far as warranty is concerned I dont think thats going to be an issue unless someone breaks something while doing the upgrade or the newly added RAM was the cause of the problem.

Yep, agree. The keyboard and flimsy wire strips are fragile, and more complex process than simple door. I found interesting comment in QuickSpecs:

    QuickSpecs HP 2133 Mini-Note PC
    http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13009_na/13009_na.pdf

Page 6, e.g. hard drive removal
"NOTE: Hard drives are customer removable and will withstand multiple insertion/removal cycles. Up to 10 GB is reserved for the system recovery software."

    Page 4, e.g. display resolutions
    " Display -
Internal 8.9-inch WXGA display with 1280 x 768 resolution. Scratch-resistant treatment on acrylic panel cover
External Up to 32-bit per pixel color depth.
VGA port supports resolutions up to 2048 x 1536 at 75 Hz, and lower resolutions at up to 100 Hz"

    Personal note:
On XP SP2 before loading S3 drivers I could go higher than 1280x768 on internal monitor, but after *generic* S3 drivers loaded 1280x768 seems to be limit. I don't have official S3 drivers, just using MS Update, so final XP drivers may be better(or worse).
