I am thinking about 12am pacific. I don't think Hp or Microsoft would want anyone pre-ordering earlier than the 18th. (Hence waiting for the whole country to transition to the 18th.) :D

Edit: 3:04am eastern... I guess not...

Does the academic pricing work with Bing Cashback? I've heard they don't honor the cash back if you combine it with other offers and on their Twitter feed they indicated it wouldn't work:

    http://twitter.com/search?q=#BingCashback

If the education discount does still work with this 25% off, it makes an awesome deal even more awesome though!

Yeah I saw the disclaimer and didnt want to try any additional discounts. The new Win7 notebooks are priced competitively as is.. I would have eventually bought mine at the original MSRP.

The 25% cash back was just absolute reason to buy it today.

    Still not there.

I signed up for Bing, set up my bank account, then went to bing.com and searched for "HP" and clicked the cashback link.... then put in the order.

Does the bank have to approve the transaction first or something? It's not on my CC website.

gah, I just noticed this deal, was going to cancel my order and redo it when hp sales opened but I guess that'd be a lost cause now.

I ordered it on the 18th does anyone know if I can get the discount applied?

You can't get the discount applied, but the deal is still open. Just go to bing.com and search for hp. It should show up in the sponsored listings at the top.

I called hp today, and they told me it goes on until the end of the 19th so today should be the last day.

I asked to cancel my order so i could reorder and they told me that they could put in a request and i would know within 24-48 hours if it went though -_- so i would have to blindly order another one and then hope my laptop gets sent, or be stuck with an extra $700 on my credit card until i could return one -_-

    wasn't up for that risk

First you sign up for Bing, and set up your bank acct info.

Then you go to bing.com, not the cashback page, and search for "hp".

Then you click the link that says "Bing Cashback" or whatever. A message pops up with some info about Bing Cashback and you can click a link for details.

Then it forwards you to the HP website

You will NOT see it say 25% until you've clicked on a link to go to the HP homepage from Bing.com, and it will appear very briefly.

It was working as of 2 AM this morning, but it stopped later this morning/afternoon sometime.

I picked up a HP Envy 15 + extra Slim Battery for about $625 off, including the academic discount $190 + bing cashback $440 = Total $1475 for everything... amazing. Let's hope the HP Envy proves to be all it is supposed to be... :D

from what i was hearing hp wasn't letting you get the academic and bing cashback, and would cancel one, but not sure if that were true.

I did go back and got $118 off my dm3 with an academic discount.

Yep they clearly said no academic, no EPP and no coupons with the Bing cashback deal. Of course there are those who did use those combinations and have initially had their orders approved and processed. But it remains to be seen if they will be penalized or cancelled.

Remember it takes 60 days to recieve your cashback from Bing. It could very well be over a month from now that HP & MS realize you "double dipped" and cancel your Bing cashback before it was ever eligible to payout.

I do have EPP through my company.. but decided not to apply it for the above reason. Besides the notebook I purchased was already being sold at a very reasonable price.. the 25% cashback bonus was more than enough savings to get me to purchase without trying to break the rules for additional savings.

I'm fairly certain that the EPP would invalidate your bing cashback so that you never even got a notification that you received cashback in the first place. It does that if you try to use any coupons while trying to use the cashback at the same time. It didn't do this with the academic program though; I think it may be an exception to the rule.

I used the EPP along with the bing cashback and it shows up in my cash back account normally (see attachment).

I was not aware when I purchased that that this was not allowed. In my opinion, it is up to HP and Microsoft to block purchases that violate their terms. From the point of view of the customer, if everything goes through and no error messages appear, then there's nothing wrong.

If they try to cancel my cashback I'm going to be arguing with some customer service reps for a few hours about it. I believe I would be in the right on this one.

How would you be in the right? They tell you in the rules section it takes 60 days because they don't want any returns or other issues with the order. So during that time, if they find out you used EPP for instance, they have the right to cancel. Just because they don't block it initially, doesn't mean it automatically gives you the belief that you're right. Honestly, based on how Bing Cashback works, I'm not even sure if they have the ability to block your purchase. Atleast it would not be easy. Not impossible, just not that easy.

The only issue I had with it as an EPP customer I had to make extra sure what I clicked on in HP's site. A lot of the links for the HP Home store become EPP home store links if your account is registered as such. There is no way to change your registration or disable EPP pricing. Prior to october of this year bing cashback could be combined with HP EPP and other discount programs.

I ended finding a safe path. Closing all my browser windows, going to bing -> hp sponsored link -> Safe path down to the Envy 15 -> complete order

The BING cashback should be more integrated with the sites to works. At least tell me it is enabled during checkout. 10-15 minutes after the order I was thinking did I really click the sponsored link, had i missed something, etc until i got the bing confirmation email.
