Hey everyone. I have just purchased a nice little subnote HP2510, which results in a couple of questions to the experts :) ?

Since it only has 2gb ddr2, will I then benefit from using 64 bit vista instead of 32 bit?

Is it cabable of displaying 1920*1200 using vga?. I know that the gfx and chipset is, but I have had an TP x40, where the bios blocked the max external resolution to 1280*1024 even though the chipset is capable of displaying higher resolutions.

Finally it is annoying that the laptop only have one ram slot, resulting in max memory of 2gb. Have any of your guys head rumours regarding sodimm mem sticks in the size of 3/4 gb?

    Best regards
    Henrik

Performance difference will be minimal at best. Doesn't matter what you run.

    Yes.

4 GB Dimms are around the corner, but your laptop is most likely limited to 2 GB per slot anyways.

okay then I will choose 32bit. Regarding ram, yes the manualstates that the slot is limited to 2gb, but is that not because that the time the manual was printet, only 2gb dimms var the biggest avalalible? The chipset does support 4gb

Yes, but almost all motherboards today have a limit of 2 GB/Dimm.

The 2510p only has 1 SODIMM slot, so it maxes out at 2GB. Most other ultraportables in this class also support a max of 2GB only.

The 2510p just got a spec bump. You can now buy a 64GB SSD version for $2200 and they are also shipping with 120GB 5400rpm HDD option now with U7700 (1.33GHz) processors as standard (used to be U7500/U7600).

Okay that sounds quite interesting. The thing is that I have been offered the 2 gb model with only 80 gb at the price of around 1100$(normal price is around 2200$ in Denmark where I live). So I will proberly go for that one, and when ssd prices drop, I will upgrade. Thanx for the quick answers :)
