    Hi
I have an HP6284EU laptop which is still under warranty. Display is not working on this and I am unable to see anything on the screen. Since it was bought from another country, I have to send it over there for parts and service. Before sending it I want to transfer some personal data from the hard drive.

Is there a way I can do it? I believe it is a SATA (Hitachi) drive. Is there a connector or something available which can be used to connect it to another computer so I can transfer my files? Where will it be available?

    Thanks
    Jay

Well according to HP's site that laptop should have a VGA connector port, can you connect a standard monitor to see the screen? (or is the video card fried so no video output?) If not you'd need another computer but it is possible to pull the hard drive and plug it in as a secondary drive but it will require some computer knowledge to pull it off. If you have to ask if its possible its probably not something you know how to do so you might want to take it to a local PC shop and have them do it for you.

Thanks Reby. I think the Video card is fried. I tried to hook up to an external monitor but still did not work. I have taken the drive out now. Also found that a SATA enclosure with USB connectivity is available in the market.
I am going to try that out now.
