1,800AU is kinda alot, id expect that much to at least have a T9500 penryn. Where are you buying this from?

Also i think HP still has the $100 cash back rebate on, not sure if this model is included though

    Roughly US$1600..

I saw it advertised in a Harris Technology catalog.

I actually checked this out in the store today.

    (1) Wasn't too keen on the light grey coloured palmrest area and black keys. Looked tacky...

    (2) Didn't really like the two small rectangular rubber bits below the space bar. This is to protect the screen from making contact with the keys when the lid is closed. Kinda tacky if you asked me. Poor design by HP if they need rubber bits .....

    (3) Wasn't keen on the maximum screen resolution being only 1280x800

I have that one. I bought it with a 2GHz processor (800MHz FSB) and 120GB HDDc last summer. The rest is the same. 500€ buying it from a bussines retailer.

    1. The palmrest is one of the bests I've seen. It's done in the same color and material than the outer casing, so it looks great. And it works perfectly because it doesn't become sticky with sweat or fades/decolorates like the normal black plastic.

    2. I read some people have problems with that rubber. In my case it does not contact the screen when closed, so it gets not dirty, but it could happen in other batchs.

    3. Average resolution for 15", you can watch 720p movies with native resolution. It's not a LED screen either, but is it really a fault if you know what you are buying?
