I am thinking of purchasing the HP 6910 notebook. There are three video options available ATI x2300 -64mb or 128mb and also the Intel 3100. None of these are powerful graphics options but what would be the best choice? Would there be any performance difference between 64mb and 128 mb on the ATI card? I wish the ATI had HDMI as it would make the choice some what easier. The Intel should have a slight advantage in terms of lower power consumption. With all things money and my lack of it will probably play a bigger role in helping me to decide. The HP 6910 with T7300 and the ATI x2300 -64mb (256 Hyper Memory) is the cheapest.

The ATI card is dedicated, while the Intel is integrated. So the ATI card will perform significantly better.

Basically if you need graphics for games or cad etc then get the ATI 128mb. If you want longer battery (up to 4 - 4 1/2 hours against around 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 for the ATI) and don't need graphics power (ie you just word process, spreadsheets, email and internet) then get the integrated intel card.

Here is what I've been looking at:

    RM325UT#ABA
    T7250-1GB-120GB HD - ATi Mobility Radeon X2300 256MB Semi-shared
    $1216.00 CDN

    RM231UT#ABA
    T7300-1GB-80GB HD - ATi Mobility Radeon X2300 64MB
    $1237.00

    GH715AW#ABA
    T7300-1GB-80GB HD - Intel GMA X3100 384MB DDR2 SDRAM Shared Integrated
    $1441.00

The HP 6910 with the ATI x2300-128MB also has 2 GB Ram and 160 -5400RPM HD the only problem is it costs $1820.00

How much of a performance hit is there in opting for the x2300 with only 64MB of Ram? I understand that when they say Semi Shared this is the Hyper memory but how much dedicated memory does this model have?

P.S nice review I appreciate that you have posted screen shots of your the vista scores.

You won't see any difference between the 64 and 128mb version of the x2300, but you will see a big difference between those and the intel.
