    Hi guys.

First Post :) Just been searching around looking for info on the new HP 6910p notebook and found this from HP: http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12699_na/12699_na.HTML

A few things I've extracted from this:
Weight of 2.1kg with weight saver and 2.3kg with DVD-RW.
    Battery life with integrated graphics: 6 Cell 5 3/4hr; 8 Cell Travel Battery 11 1/4hr; 12 Cell Ultra-Capacity 15 1/4hr
    Battery life with discrete graphics (ATI X2300): 6 Cell 4 1/2hr; 8 Cell Travel Battery 9hr; 12 Cell Ultra-Capacity 12hr.

It appears that the antenae for the WWAN options are included within the system, so if you decide to later, you can buy the appropriate part from HP to have it integrated within (versus using a PCMCIA card).

    Screen brightness is 200 nit.

Bassicaly this has tech specs on every aspect of the notebook.

    I can't wait to order one; hopefully soon and will post a review then. I'm looking at a NZ model with the 2.2Ghz C2D T7500, 2GB RAM, 100GB 7200rpm, X2300 128mb, WXGA (no WXGA+ 1440x900 in NZ) :)

how much is that in NZ? I remember prices were pretty high for laptops over there compared to dubai or the US even.

though about the WWAN upgrade, are the antanae for it stationed at the top of the screen? would mean having to open the whole laptop in a way eh

Its about $3k online in NZ, though at the moment they are bundling an XBOX 360 core system with it, so I'd sell it on TradeMe :) Reduces the cost a bit.
It is cheaper than a similar T61, and the 1.8Ghz spec starts at about $2300.
I think with the introduction of the Santa Rosa notebooks, prices have come down a lot? Seams so anyway. The nc6400 is more than the 6910p?!

For the WWAN upgrade, I suspect the antennae are already there (in the top of the screen) so all you'd have to do is find and buy the part and install it (which you'd have to open up the laptop).

hmm dunno about the WWAN thing, im told there's only one antennae installed and it requires two or something?

thats not too bad a price especially if u can sell off the xbox!

mind u the dv9000t back in december cost me $2800NZ here in dubai, slightly cheaper than similar configured one in the US and much cheaper than in NZ i reckon.

so yeah while prices might be gettin cheaper, theyre still a long way i think

probably cuz of fierce competition from Dell, toshiba and lenovo.

Just looking at the spec sheet, I guess it comes with all the antennae - 3 for WLAN, 2 for WWAN. It also says:
"Broadband Wireless (WWAN) requires Windows Vista Business or Windows XP Professional and is available in select countries as a standard, factory configurable feature or as an option to be added later."

The 17" HPs (or any brand for that matter) seem to command a premium here - The dv9000 series is only available at places like Noel Leeming who know how to charge, whereas the business line notebooks are available online, so there's more competition.
Also we've got GST in NZ :( Having said that the dv9000 is $3k + anyway.

Same thing in Australia. Unless you're a corporate customer, HP's preconfigured business notebooks at retail prices are overpriced. The 6910p with T7700 costs AU$3399 here, and they don't have the intermediate T7300 or T7500 option yet nor the WXGA+ screen.

Not to scare you off, but the X2300 is a DX9 remake of the X1300. It is just a hair more powerful than the X1300.

Yeah, I realise that and a tad dissapointed, but its not for gaming :) I'm sure it'll handle AoE3 for the boring times @ uni though.
DX10 isn't a big thing (yet) either. In a way I would prefer the integrated graphics becasue of the longer battery life, but getting an XBOX 360 just ends up making it a sweet deal because I will sell it, thus making the overall cost much less.
