Hi everyone. I am having a specific problem with my 6910p. Here is a description:
After I return from hibernating or turning on my laptop, the screen will go out after a minute or 2 of use. This problem does not occur everytime. Also, sometimes when it occurs, Windows (Vista Business) just restarts itself and identifies ATI as the problem. (otherwise I have to turn off and turn on myself). I have tried twice to install new drivers and it says I am up to date now. However, the 6910p is supposed to come with the x2300 (which I cannot find Vista drivers for), yet mine is identifying a x1450. I downloaded the updates from HPs site for the 6910p.
When the screen begins to go out, it just doesn't go black. It gets like grainy and pixelated first, then goes black.
Anyone know how to solve this problem? I'd really like to know if my laptop has the x2300 and if it just misidentifying it.
UPDATE: my card is now showing as the x2300. However, I am not sure if the underlying problem has been solved. Any suggestions?

Yes i had the same problems with my computer, after the i did the update it change the name to x2300 but still had different errors due to the ati driver. You may want to try and go to add/remove programs and uninstall everything that have to do with the ati video, which should be the first three selections, it will say that like ccc and others. Then try and reinstall the driver from the hp website and it may work. Also by the way how is you display casing. Is the bezel around the display has a big gap between the display and the bezel and does the plastic bezel bend in alot when you press on it. Just wondering because it seems the first computer that i recieved had a good build quality on the screen but the second one which was the incorrect config had a very poor quality built screen. Also was your computer built in China?

I am not sure if the problem will persist after the the card was updated to the x2300. If I uninstall all of the ATI stuff, will my comp run ok until install the new driver? Also, my bezel seems fine. I don't notice any flex. The screen shut off problem i think is a driver issue and now that my computer is showing the correct card, I am hoping that the driver issue will go away.
How do I find out where mine was built? I assume China or Taiwan. -
Underneath the notebook, where theres the plastic card holder is a whole lot of writing about standards being met etc. On the right there somewhere it says "Product of China" in the top third of the sleeve. (You may have to take out the accesseries card out if you haven't already.)
I never came across that problem. I admit that the first thing I did was follow orev's Clean install with no activation for Vista thread and I had to download ATi's driver from the HP driver website because the one off the driver disc didn't load or something.
So far everything has been perfect with this notebook, although I really wish I could squeeze out 4hrs of battery but oh well -
What company manufacture notebooks for HP in Mexico?
