I think it is, but just want to make sure I'm not missing something... I realize this model is a little over a year old, but it is still currently offered. However, I'm guessing a new redesign is due any day now...
Here are the specs:
HP 6930P
- P8600
- ATI HD3450
- 4gb DDR2 800mhz
- 160gb HDD @ 5400rpm
- 1440x900 CCFL display
- DVD RW
- 6 cell battery
brand new, sealed in box for $620 shipped
The configuration I REALLY wanted had GMA 4500MHD and 1280x800 LED (Illumi Lite). I know it's less desirable than the above mentioned config, but it should provide 1-1.5 hrs of extra battery life right? I just don't really care for the ATI gpu since it doesn't do much for me, not quite strong enough to play games and just consumes more power.
If I get the above mentioned config, I'm thinking I'll add an 80gb SSD and use the upgrade bay to add a 500gb hdd. Is it reasonable to expect the SSD to add about 30min of battery life?

It's a decent deal as most units are being sold on eBay around the same price. The 6930p will be discontinued soon, so there's a huge clearance by HP.

I figure for $600, you won't be able to find another laptop with much more than a T6600 and integrated graphics. I guess what concerns me is that I'm a firm believer in... "you get what you pay for." So I'm wondering why these are so cheap when HP still offers them at starting prices of $1100 and a comparable model for $1500.
Some of these ebay sellers are claiming "brand new in box" with pictures to prove, while others are claiming "brand new in box" but in the description it says there is no boxI've also emailed several sellers and surprised to find that every single one of them have horrible grammar/spelling and aren't very familiar with the product they're selling.
HP 6930P - Is this a good deal?
