does anyone know about this special 8510P dubbed the 'RQ555AV'. this particular serial numbered 8510P seems to be significantly cheaper than the others with the serials of GT650PA.
I have some source say this is a whitebook and the suppliers add their own CPU. Is this true?
-
Google says: no CPU, no RAM...
http://www.computers4sure.com/ProductCompare.asp?CompareCatID=64&ProdList=5637693 -
all the suppliers are selling these in australia with T7500 WSXGA and vista business(no CD) at a bargain price............about the same i would pay for a dell vostro.
only problem is im not sure who will be the warranty provider. And who actually assembles these computers.
If the quality is the same as the other 8510P then i think i have found my laptop -
Honestly, I have never heard about that before... but I will PM another guy to see whether he knows something about that...
-
yeh, seems like i stumbled onto a little industry secret here. I just emailed several local suppliers, see what kind of answers they have. Because non of the website specify it as being any different to the normal 8510Ps.
another dodgy thing is that the stock count for these are usually 300+ while the normal 8510Ps are either 0 or 1 -
see post below
-
omg they do have one!!!!! wow gonna call them this morning... this would rock
-
you guys are so lucky over there.
-
the 8710P body without cpu and ram is listed as $30....... that has to be wrong. they are usually just a few dollars more than 8510p. the W versions are also available!
but the prices of these barebones given their quality is insane.
If this gets out, asus will have something to worry about.
If this actually pans out it means i can build the same system HP offers for 1/3 the money -
???? over where ... where are you located??
-
This I've got to see!
-
I just looked at the site dreamer gave. im assuming its US.
im located in australia and they are going for around A$480, a fully loaded system is around A$2800.
If all i need to put in is a cpu and ram kit then i can build that machine for less than A$1000.
Tell us how you go with your supplier and document your unboxing and assembly adventures -
-
the 8710W with FX1600 and WUXGA is only A$800!!!, the machine inr etail is 4000+ I'm about to lose it. this is too good to be true.
-
im sure there is nothing else in these like no hdd, no wireless no bluetooth etc.. these are probably the motherboard, display, gpu and keyboard nothing else..to bad this thread got started till we figure this out.. now there will be hundreds of people trying to score them maybe before we get to them knowing the way people are on here.. im gonna call monday to see how legit this is.. im not sure i believe it yet
-
australia.....
but just google these part numbers
RL886AV for the 8710P and the original one i posted for the 8510P
8710W is RL922AV -
Fair enough. Actually since bluetooth and wireless come as standard its probably included? plus doesn't all centrino notebooks have wireless anyway?
even so. this is amazing value.......and VERY unexpected -
also right now in the usa there is no eta on any web site.. and every one says backordered...
-
-
yeh these are to order only in Australia too. It's the weekend so i could only send some email enquiries.
but prebuilt heavily discounted 8510P are inundating the market, each supplier have at least 300 in stock. as you woudl expect them to sell like hotcakes. -
these would be great for me since i need to upgrade all my business systems which are all laptops now.. i could just get them all as the 8510p and put a base cpu and hdd in there. they dont need wireless or bluetooth etc.. this would be so sweet im sure there is a catch though
-
I'm worried about warranty.
-
hate to say at this price im not to worried.. could be why they are so cheap there may not be the normal 3 year one that normally comes with the hp business systems that could be the catch
-
yeh the preconfigured system i saw all come with 1 year and they didnt specify whether thats factory or 3rd party. My guess is the resellers are responsible for the hardware installed and HP is responsible to the reseller for the barebone system.
-
that is usually the way they work with barebones imo if you dont know enough about them or dont want to get involved fixing them i would not recc anyone to buy barebones..
-
-
On top of that, they might have reduced the warranty, etc... but I am not sure about this one.
I am also from Australia and am thinking of buying one as well. Can any of the new owners give us an insight on the quality, etc... -
-
I doubt there will be many people who even know these exist. Or if they did see one they wouldnt know its any different to a factory model because the sellers simply say it is discounted.
the reason i found out these werent factory was because some of the site listed a Serial and i did a quick google search.
these are being passed off as factory machines.
Yes, Warranty is only 1 year and they havent specified whether thats the normal HP international warranty. -
-
for me It's right on that thresh hold.........for the same price i could get a sager np2090 (aus retailer), or a dell vostro 1500 with faster HDD and much better warranty.
but if go up a few hundred and buy factory legit, the price comes very close to my dream MBP.
don't mind me. just thinking out a loud.
PS not that many 8510P reviews around. I have read both of the reviews on this site -
There seems to be some concern over the screen brightness on these model HPs, I'm leaning towards the 2090 myself. -
The Compal is a consumer notebook and it's not the same league... plus, it's ugly...
As for the screens, HP like every other brand uses a few different suppliers, so it's a matter of luck...
lol Mac....
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/830816.html -
yeh, and i don't like the idea of those little rubber bumpers which smudge the screen...............something about the irrationality of that design just bugs me, im also not a big fan of all the markings for ports on the inside face.
but then again the build quality of the HP overall should be better than Sager plus you get niceties like HDD shock mounting and a thinner lighter profile.
but the sager screen is suppose to be pretty good.
If i had the extra 600 bucks i would just go out and buy a MBP and be done with it. that baby is perfect. I hate being poor. -
what are you doing over there? -
What's the price of the MBP in Aus?
-
-
WOW. Im on google............i think im going to cry....
MBP is A$2899 for the base model. thats retail without student discount. I graduate this year so by the time i have the money for it i wont be eligible. -
Yep, if you continue in that way you will be on CNN soon...
You can wait until you became a famous architect... Sydney opera needs refreshing... -
Yeh..........I'll make it shiny and give it a touch screen interface.
-
Hi Macpod, which dealer can we get the Sager np2090 from?
-
http://www.p4laptops.com.au/
theyhave been around for ages so should be legit -
yeah i still am questioning these .. i called and left messaged for all the places i could fins so we will see who calls back otherwise ill call again monday and post what i find for you guys.. ill keep up on this though
-
Thanks mate.
-
one of the sites is a office depot owned site ill call my freind who is a manager for office depot and ask him about the part numbers if he can look them up for me
-
Btw, Mac if you want this notebook, have you thought about /www.shopblt.com/, they ship to Australia... if it comes out cheaper...dunno...just suggesting...
-
Thanks mate. Are they reliable? the price is pretty good and shipping is very reasonable. Im guessing the 3 year limited warranty is international?
It works out to be the same price as the 'non legit' HPs back home but with T7300 instead of T7500, so i'm gaining 3 years factory support while loosing 2 Ghz.
Decisions decisions..... -
imo 3 year warranty makes a huge difference..
-
Yep, it's international...afaik, these models come international warranty in general, of course, you will check that out again... but a few people from here ordered from that place... the guy who wrote the review in the HP section is from Canada....
Either way, if it comes down to shopblt, I will find you a few people to talk to.. -
The Sager is also reseller assembled. I think I prefer the 8510p simply because it is a business notebook and I liked the look.
