OK. I found 1 distributor ( www.misco.ch) that sells the 2252BW in Switzerland and it has 30-say payback guaranty. I take your advice and I am going to buy one and test it.

in order to do it. Can you help me a bit?

    1. what calibration Software do you use?
    2. your settings?
    3. advice what and how see (dead pixels\black bleeding etc.) when i receive it?

    Thanks so much.

I have no dead pixels, but any decent brands usually don't have dead pixels anymore these days. Don't use any calibration software, just use the settings on the monitor. There's very minimal backlight bleed on the monitor. I'm using gamma 1, for the color tone I chose Warm since it shows colors accurately, while still giving a really nice, vivid image, sharpness is set at 56, contrast is at 80, and I think everything else is set to default. MagicColor looks great turned on during some movies, just turn it on and see if you like it and compare it to with it it on and off. I'd only recommend using MagicColor during movies. Dynamic Contrast is a waste, since, like I've said before, the backlight adjusts to get whiter/darker depending on the scene, so the brigtness of the screen is constantly changing. Hope that helps. Enjoy your monitor!

    Ackeron, Michael:

    1. I have not bought it yet. :)
    2. Because of Point 1, I have to make my mind.
    3. While I was doing Point 2, something came to my mind.
    4. Why do not I buy a 24" LCD if my 8510p handle 1920*1200? :)

I can use that monitor as an external one with its native 1920*1200 resolution.

What do you think, is there any disadvantage of having 24" monitor to my 8510p as an external one and using it with its native 1900*1200 resolution?

No disadvantage at all. 22" is a lot bigger than it seems and 24" may take up too much desk space when you take it home, otherwise it'll be great to have. You won't be able to game at 1920x1200 (mostly) on your notebook, other than that you'll be fine.

OK. Thanks. I know that the Ati 2600 is weak to handle good games in 1900*1200, but by having a 24" one with its 1900*1200, i can see the movies in Full HD quality.

Regarding the games, i can switch its resolution to a lower one and play it, right?

I have the hp 2207 monitor. its the best monitor i have ever used. I am chiming in a bit late here but i picked it as it has the same properties as my dv9000 monitor, which I find amazing. I recommend the 2207 100 percent.

I ended up getting the LG W2252TQ. Tested it with the 2253BW and they're both pretty much equal except the LG doesn't buzz thankfully. The panels are identical (I think. Quality wise they look the same), but the LG's overall body build quality is meh compared to the Samsung. No holes for a VESA stand, a few scratches and bumps...

If I could take the non-buzzing LG and stick it in the Samsung body this thing would be great, ha ha. Anyway it works, and doesn't annoy me so I can't be bothered to keep searching or waiting :p

Also yeah, I was going to get a 24", but I don't really watch HD movies on my laptop. Also down-rezzing every time I want to play a game would be meh.

    Thank the fast replies guys.

Ackeron, i understand that you do not watch HD movies on the laptop. I do not watch them so frequently either, but I do play games as well but dont you have to down-rezz it anyway when you play games (1650X1050 is too high for a HD2600?

That is the reason while i hesitating between the 22 and 24. Most of the time i do not play but i use it for surfing, doing the office work and so on. So basically for these activities a 24 screen is better and by having the better res., the HD movie-watching option is just a bonus. Morover, if i have to down/rezz it anyway for new games, i do not see the advantage of buying a 22. A 24 one looks a better deal imo. or?

Actually I play everything at 1680x1050, and haven't had to turn it down yet. But I don't really play current top of the line games (will be trying Bioshock and CoD4 soon). The most system intensive game I play is probably TF2, which runs fine at 1680 max settings (no AA, AF of course :p). I've also tried Sins of a Solar Empire which ran fine at 1680x1050 with most settings on med-high.

But yes, I could see having to downrez for future games. And 24" @ 1920 is quite nice + a lot of space to work. If you're going to downrez anyway, I agree a 24" would be a better deal (+ more futureproof).

Finally, I bought it. HP 2408h is her name. :)

Experience: Huge (24"), extremely clear, vivid colors (after calibration). No dead pixel. I use it in a relatively dark room (curtain, table lamp is behind of the LCD). The fancy "vivid color layer" is not bothering me. I used the original HDMI-HDMI cable.

At the first time I was afraid of a bit because of blurred fonts and "black-framed" LCD display on the monitor at 1920*1200. Well, I had both at the beginning. My solution was:

    Cleartype + Ati CCC (DTV 4 menu/Scaling options/Overscan to 0%).

The best test that I found is here. If somebody is interested in it.

Now, everything is perfect. Sharp, clear, but I have a question.

    1. How can I use me headphone? I use HDMI-HDMI cable and every time the internal, built-in speaker sounds and when I plug my HP to my laptops 3.5' I can not hear anything.

    Any idea?

Thanks the help so far guys. I really like my monitor...

Glad to hear things worked out for you anpe. For me in Vista, to change the sound output you just right-click on the speaker in the bottom right (taskbar) and go playback devices, then select the non-HDMI output. I think in XP it's the same, although you might have to go through control panel to get there.
