Ok this is strange. When I go to uninstall it with Catalyst Install Manager, it says the ATI display Driver is version 8.471.0

All the other programs say it is 7.10

I'm going to try uninstalling it anyway...

Go to Add or Remove programs -> Change or remove programs -> ATI Display Driver -> Click on Change or Remove

It's not listed in Add Remove Programs in Vista...
The Catalyst Install utility didn't seem to uninstall the 7.10 driver my PC is using, any other way I can remove the driver?

Ok I cleaned out the old driver with driver cleaner pro, but when I use the graphics drivers from HP it seems those drivers are actually 7.14, according to dxdiag.

I am trying to use the 2600 drivers from ATIs website with mobility modder, but it doesn't seem to be installing because dxdiag shows I have no driver installed after I do the entire modding process.

Can someone with an 8510p tell me what driver version they have, type dxdiag in search and use that program to identify, look under one of the first three tabs to check.

    Thanks

    @ zam

hp did just update their old driver (ver.8.391) , while they were recently bios-fixing the last graphics issues with the hd2600.
the driver is still based on the old catalyst 7.10, but most likely they have changed some modules of the driver with newer ones, hence this mess. so nothing is wrong on your side.

but you should definitely use catalyst 8.3.
if you are having problems with uninstalling the old driver, maybe driver cleaner can help out.

The new driver versions are supposed to improve performance for games that I play, which is why I want to get the newest driver version from ATI.

I was able to install the driver from HP and I tested it and performance did not improve, so I assume it did not contain those updates.

I was able to uninstall the old driver using driver cleaner, but mobility modder doesn't seem to be modding the 8.3 driver from ATI.

Anyone who was able to use mobility modder to install the 8.3 driver from ATI successfully?
