    Hello guys!

Has any of users of that lovely machine has had any problems with Vista crashing from time to time??
My notebook seems to be crashing from no reason really and I dont know what is the problem :/
It crashed couple of time when I was browsing the internet, couple of times when playing PES2008 online - loosing points in rankings .

It crashes with black screen and I need to restart it with the power button. :(

Hmm.... I don't have it. But, you may have a setting that dose that set. But I dont have it. Its either the screen, mobo, or video card. maybe new display drivers?

    Hi!

Yes, I have that problem too. Although I wouldn't acutally say that the screen gets black: It has a green tint and vertical stripes. What I have also noticed (so far) is that the notebook does not crash when using the energy-saving profile in Vista.

True! Well, Ive got 7.10 modified installed. I think its the overheating problem but im not sure...
It crashed couple of times before my clean Vista so I did the clean install to solve it, now it looks like it didnt help...

    EDIT:

    Look what I found...

rdlbrmf: After your screen goes all screwy, does it revert back to normal or do you have to restart? If it goes back to normal, then just grab HP's new video drivers. I use to get that too, but since I picked up the Oct 8th video drivers, it has never happened again. This is using XP Pro though, should work in Vista hoepfully.

Destiny: Wow you do not have good luck with this laptop. Wasn't it you who previously reported some problems? If you keep having problems, call and ask for a new one. Oh I think Windows changed the BSOD to the GSOD. I think I remember one of my Apple fanatic friends (Yes I mean fanatic. Apple could sell him a $200 white box and he'd think it's great) stating that. Have you tried running everything with just the HP drivers? Also if you strongly think it's overheating, find a temp monitoring program and post up some temps. I really think you got a lemon though.

Honestly, I really dont have luck with notebooks... All I bought had some problems...
Looks like I need to buy PS3 or Xbox360 lol ;) to play games :)

I guess I have to give HP drivers a go again and see what happens :/ O/c is not working well anyway so until we have a new app to do it I stay with them.
Are the drivers actually available for Vista??

Im on the active chat at the mo, and they told me to do a windows reinstall, i told them that i did it, so he told me to get some windows updates which i already have, and now he told me it will need to be diagnosed.

I ordered 3 of them for my company, we have been using HP for the past 5 years with mostly no issues. These 3 laptops are the worst piles of crap I have ever used. Blue Screens because of lousy video drivers, sudden shut downs and just strange erratic behavior have caused me to send one back because it just plain didn't work and to format the last two and try going fresh install and only installing whats needed and nothing else driver wise.

Then I'll test part by part and see what happens but over-all I like the 84xx series much better even if these 8510's are faster and have brighter screens.

    Good luck with yours.

EDIT: I tried installing XP on one of them, no go, wouldn't make it through the setup.

I managed to get both Vista and XP on them, running together without any problems. I'll test all the stuff in XP and if its going to crash that is it... going back and requesting new one I think...

I'm running XP Pro on the 8510p and I've been getting VPU Recover error messages off and on. Today I had my first green screen crash. Have you guys ascertained that it is indeed a hardware problem?

I've had the VPU Recover issues in XP on my 8510p, and entered a support request with HP. They called me today to say there is a BIOS update available: tinyurl.com/3a94gj
