Hi,
I'm new to the forum and wondering there are any fellow HP Owners out there that may be able to help.
I have an HP Compaq 8510w Mobile Workstation that has been running extremely well until just recently. When I turn the machine on it goes through its boot cycle, does the BIOS check, the disk boot compare and then powers down for about a second and then repeats the process. It keeps doing this until I remove power.
Has anyone ever struck this problem or any ideas?
Cheers,
John

couple of reason why is in a loop reboot. first does get to windows loading like windows 7 booting logo or xp? than reboots? if so could be file system corruption or bad memory, drivers failure, or failing hard drive... usually windows give blue screen error and gives u hex code you research the code but since is in a loop reboot u can't see it. best bet just do "chkdsk /r"
here how is done in windows 7/vista
Windows 7 & Vista - Running Checkdisk from a Boot CD/DVD or Windows Desktop
windows xp
Windows XP - Running CHKDSK
how to get into windows safe mode a.k.a boot options
Getting into Windows Safe Mode
if that fail than do a memory check windows 7 has build in memory check, and hard drive you can use diagnostic tool provide by hard drive maker. usually you can see model by going into bios, and than look for where give u basic info of your hardware than google the model of HDD and should get the company who made it, they have boot up cd image you can use to test drive... now if is a failing drivers is much much harder to fix especially if sata/ide controller drivers, if you do get the boot up option by hitting F8 than select safe mode or "load last know working configuration" if still loop than try again select Enable VGA mode this will disable video card drivers u install if boots up to your desktop than was you video card drive cause the problem... if that fails too than you will have do repair install... which allow you keep previous files etc.. but will fix windows unless is infect badly which would be pointless. formatting would be your best bet but u will lose everything this would be your last resort thou.
let us know what happen...
good luck/
