    Hi,

I just got a HP Compaq 8510w laptop. It goes to system standby when I close the notebook lid - as expected. However, It does not resume automatically when I open the notebook lid. I have to press the power button to bring the laptop from out of sleep mode. Does anyone know if it is possible to configure this laptop such that it will automatically resume from standby when lid is opened?

    Thank You.

    Osho

I don't think you can, unfortunately. At least I haven't figured it out yet on my nw8440 (the 8510w's predecessor)

I just disabled the auto-standby-when-lid-is-closed thing because sometimes, when I would turn it back on, everything would come back on except for the screen. You had to press the lid switch quickly to get the display to work again. That may have been fixed on the 8510w, however.
