    So I've been trying to figure out why power management is broken under Linux on my zv5000z. It USED to work, sometime well before the current F.35 BIOS release. I finally looked up the error message in the powernow-k8.c source code:
    Code:
            /*
             * If you see this message, complain to BIOS manufacturer. If
             * he tells you "we do not support Linux" or some similar
             * nonsense, remember that Windows 2000 uses the same legacy
             * mechanism that the old Linux PSB driver uses. Tell them it
             * is broken with Windows 2000.
             *
             * The reference to the AMD documentation is chapter 9 in the
             * BIOS and Kernel Developer's Guide, which is available on
             * www.amd.com
             */
            printk(KERN_INFO PFX "BIOS error - no PSB or ACPI _PSS objects\n");
    Any ideas on who I can contact at HP about this? (And their BIOS whitelist that blocks non-HP miniPCI WiFi cards, and the BIOS's rejection of Turion CPUs, and ask whether the new E-series Athlon 64 Mobile cores are supported...) Suffice it to say that emailing tech support and asking them to forward the message along has, so far, had no discernable effect.

    Power management does work in Windows XP, of course.

    Oh great. Turions and E-series Mobiles have the same processor ID, so neither one will work without a BIOS update. Hmph. If you're really interested I have a thread about it here. Oh well, at least I figured this out before buying the Mobile 3700+ or 4000+ chip. My Mobile 3200+ will have to do.

    Anyone know who to ping at HP?

    When I had an HP, I usually sent two copies of the same email to their technical support - and sometimes I got two different answers :p

    I think the first email they send you back is usually automated - I've gotten replies that have had nothing to do with the topic I sent them!

    HP is pretty stubborn - if it isn't in the book, it doesn't exist! They are "copy and paste" people too.... :confused:

    Well, I just keep pestering them until they do something. It may not seem nice...but how else am I supposed to get an answer?

    Once I pestered them enough that they sent me some RAM for my laptop just to get me to shut up! :eek:
