Well I've had a broken dv9000t for about 3 months now. They built the first replacement but it came with the wrong specs so I had to refuse the Fedex Delivery.

Now I call up today fully expecting for it to come today only to be told that the expected ship day has been pushed back from last Friday to this coming Monday because of a Graphics Card Backorder on the 8600 GS.

So right now I'm pretty angry considering I don't have a computer I can do anything useful on.

I guess nothing can be done about it though? HP really should extend warrantys when people have to wait over 3 months just to get a broken Laptop fixed. This is really starting to get ridiculous.

Do any of you think they will extend my warranty for the trouble, or if theres anyway I can push for further information like an expected date they will recieve the parts etc?

    :(

I had a very bad experience with HP, and eventually had to do a charge back for the laptop since I wasn't ever able to reach anyone or recieve a call back from anyone at HP except ONCE.

To answer your question, if you can actually reach someone who actually knows anything at HP, they will probably extend your warranty, but won't be able to tell you when they expect to recieve the part.

by the way, you have pm.

If you got a replacement (not a fixed unit), you will have a fresh warranty, since warranties through HP are applied per unit (not per customer). My DV6305US already used up almost 3 months of its warranty while undergoing repairs, so I had similar concerns when I was promised a replacement. Now I have a warranty that covers me through July 2008.

As far as backorders, the best they can do is guess, but the standard answer you will receive is "I don't have that information available".
