Searched previous threads and couldn't find anything that mentioned my issue, please move or direct to a pre-existing one if necessary....

I've had my HP Envy 14 Beats Edition for a few months but I've had issues with starting up after Standby mode ever since I bought the laptop. I'll close my lid and enter Standby mode and everything is ok. However, when I open it up, the computer has issues starting up, I'll hear the disc drive engaging and then everything will go black (as if you are in a car and having issues with the starter). A few seconds later it will try again, but to no avail.

My only fix is to turn the laptop upside down and take out the battery and then start it up again (which seems to work). Has anyone else had this issue? Any fixes?

I had some issues with my old computer where a stray SD card or USB device held up my resume from standby. Any peripherals plugged in anywhere?

I have had the same exact issue after tweaking my Advanced BIOS setting. Thankfully I did it systematically and could tell that turning off Hyperthreading was the cause of the erratic standby behavior. I would recommend turning it back on if you value your sleep feature (I believe that hibernating still works).

I brought the issue up here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-envy-hdx/563970-access-hp-envy-14-f-23-bios-advanced-options.html
but until now, you're the only other person that has experienced (and posted) about these symptoms. I hope HP has a fix in the works. :)

At times I'll have an SD card plugged into the SD slot, but most times there are no other peripherals.

I haven't messed around with any of the BIOS settings at all. Hmm... thanks for the responses, anyone else have any tips?
