I know this is not the best place for this but considering most of you bought an HP laptop, I might as well pose the question.

Anyone here used the "Bill Me Later" option from HP?

HP essentially gives you six months to pay for the laptop, no finance fees. However, reading about it on their website I had some questions. If I pay in installments during the six-month grace period are there any finance fees? HP says if you pay in full during the six months there is no fees, but if you pay "over time" there is a fee, I'm not sure if "over time" means installments or past the six-month period.

Best buy had this same trick. There's usually a monthly minimum 1% or $10 which ever is greater. You should call HP (or whoever the other company is) to clarify

Not really a "trick". Works like most credit cards, and doesn't have a minimum monthly payment. No finance charges unless you don't pay it off in 6 months, otherwise a 19.99% APR will be assessed from date of purchase.

This. I actually used this... 0% over 6 months means that a $1200 laptop will only cost me $200/mo out of pocket. The only thing you need to be sure of is to pay it off on time. But even then... it's sad that the 19.99% that BillMeLater provides is actually less than a lot of credit cards charge :-/

yeah, the 0% over 6 months is an easy way to build credit. Plus you can just leave your cash in an interest bearing account and make a few bucks.
