Yes I know this is a laptop forum, but thing is awesome. Looks like the voodoo acquisition is paying off. I wonder if we will see gaming oriented laptops anytime soon.

    I want one.

This desktop is gonna kick ass, although you will have to sell an arm, a leg, and trade in your children for experiments just to get one.XD

Do you guys realize you can build the same computer yourself for half or less than half the price of pre-built gaming computers? The sad part is, is that its really easy and people still don't do it. Anybody looking into a pre-built gaming desktop I strongly urge you to price the parts out yourself to build it, you'll be very surprised. I'd be willing to help anybody wanting to do it themselves as well.

There is no way with $6,000 you could build "that" computer. You may be able to spec one for less. But good luck with the bios/case/cabling/easy change of hard-drives/all the other cool stuff that makes that PC "that".

yeah someone elsewhere looked that up, it came to around $4500, saving $1500. But $4500 is still out of my price range, not that I'm looking for a new computer anyway. But if you buy this it comes already built, no hassle, already tuned and overclocked, plus the case is damn good looking with a lot of user-friendly features (engadget changed out a HDD in 12 seconds) and great thermal management. But overall if you have the money this is a great computer.

I'm still wondering if this is a sign of what's to come. Gaming laptops in the future?

You must have never built your own computer. I would be able to build that computer for well under $6,000. Don't talk about what you don't know. I've been building computers and pricing parts out for 6 years now and I've seen it all. Just last year I configured a top of the line Dell XPS desktop and built the same thing for half the cost, and I built a better one for $400 less than it. Take some time and price the stuff out before you tell me I'm wrong. All those things you listed that make that PC "that" you can find that will offer the same options. The only thing you won't be able to get is the exact same style of case, but you can get one with the same options that one has.

Yeah, I'd rather just build my own PC than buy the Blackbird 002 to save $$$ but man, if I had the money, I'd buy a 002 in a heartbeat. Not only because it kicks a$$, but because it looks awesome, too.

Anyway I can get just the case? lol :p

Hahaha. If someone on eBay sells that case for $1k, it'll still go lol.

And that seperately bought case plus parts will still come out cheaper than buying direct from HP, haha. Sometimes you have to wonder how much you're paying for that case and bragging rights. Because honestly, anyone who can seriously care enough about computers to continue to be impressed by a certain setup are not going to look at how cool the case is. They're going to check out the specs. Anyone who can forego the specs of the computer to be impressed by the case isn't going to care about how "cool" it looks for long.

It's kind of like a Corvette vs. Viper thing, where the Corvette is a nice-looking but powerful custom-built PC for less money, and the more expensive Viper is the still, but not quite as powerful, but more gorgeous and braggable Blackbird. And once the initial "OMG HE HAS A VIPER" shock wears off, it's all meh. =/ I still love both cars though. One day I'll be driving one of them. :D

You either completely misread his post or don't know that some of the parts are made by HP.
