    What is it?
    What are the advantages?

I'm a little confused because I asked an HP guy @ best buy what the advantages are to the infinity option and he said that the screen is made of LEDs instead of an LCD and therefore draws far less power (or its the other way around) and it also looks cleaner, is scratch resistant and is frameless.

    But

the HP website, when i go to find out more, just says its a clean, frameless look.

    Explanation please?

    btw

    I'm looking into the dv5
    intel, 2.0ghz
    4 gigs of ram
    vista 64bit
dedicated video card (i think its an Nvidia GeForce 9800M GS or something)
    6cell battery
for collge/home/entertainment (plane rides) and PC online games

The guy at best buy was an idiot.

The infinity display is just a layer of glass over a standard display. The quality of the screen is not any better.

The LED display that is on some dv4t's is different and uses less power.

LOL. Just when I thought Best Buy couldn't get any worse with what they tell people. Brightview Infinity is simply a layer of glass over the current LCD that makes it seamless like such.

You mean what are its disadvantages?

It's just a different variation of the LCD monitor. It's not LED based. It just has an extra clear coating over the LCD frame that makes it appear frameless. It may look cleaner but there are a few downsides.

They don't absorb light very well, so I hope you enjoy annoying glares.

    They are just pointless overall.

AND BestBuy is more like ScamBuy according to your post and what they told you.

Skip the Infinity display. IMO its not worth it. The regular screen looks just as good and it has less glare. If you want to upgrade your screen get a higher resolution.

I like my infinity display and see no more glare than my old dv6500. It really comes down to personal preference. Probably best to find a store that has both in stock so you can look and compare.

I sit outside near the pool and even use the laptop in the car.

So the Infinity display actually causes more glare?

It depends on how you use the notebook.

Since you don't do much movie watching, I wouldn't worry about it.

I thought they passed laws about driving and using your laptop at the same time. :) I dont have a pool, just a 1200 sq/ft dock on a river. Anyone wanna go wakeboarding today?
