I was configuring some HP Compaq business laptops notably the 8510p and 6710p. The way I had them configured, they were at least $200+ more over Dell or Lenovo. I currently have a T61 on order for $300 more than a same spec 6710p. And the T61 has a better graphics card! What discounts/coupons do you use to bring down the price into a reasonable range?

Try looking for a Smart Buy preconfigured model.

Woops I meant I have a T61 on order for $300 LESS than a same spec HP Compaq 6710p. With the discounts I can easily find online Lenovo and Dell are far cheaper than HP.

Yeah...there are no discounts. I called up asking for student discounts, or any discounts in general but I had no luck. She claimed even she did not get discounts on HP business notebooks. Aside from the smartbuys...the HP business class notebooks are the most expensive out there. Your best bet really is going for a smartbuy, and then just upgrading the ram or something.
