I believe changing the thermal paste on the CPU voids the warranty.

As for opening it, I don't think there's a label that keeps HP from knowing you've opened it.

well, if you are gonna switch to something like Artic Silver 5...it's kinda obvious. I used it once and what a gawd awful mess I made of things.. :D

Does your system run a bit hot? If so it might be a sign of something wrong. Or are ya like me and just can't keep yer paws outta the box? hehehehe ;)

    runs cool...

but i opened it last night... hp was kind enough to make the removal quite hard, by having some plastic parts put there to break if someone tries to change anything... especially the gpu...

on the nx9420 the order is ... Keyboard, the buttons on top... then THE PLASTIC thingie on the GPU ( which you have to bend really carefull else it brakes...) then the GPU cooler... then the FAN , then the cpu cooler... there is NO WAY for example to remove the cpu cooler without removing the fan first... well unless you followe hp service manual and take apart EVERYTHING... but this is the fast version...

but i managed to change everything without a trace...
