    Hi there..

I tried to put in a Intel Pentium 4-M inside the HP COMPAQ NC6000 but it wouldn't fit... How come?

The cpu came from a thinkpad r40 (which supports the intel pentium m + intel pentium 4 m and more)...

So ... Did I do something wrong? How come I couldn't install the cpu inside a NC6000?

    Thank you!

The HP compaq nc6000 only supports the Pentium-M, not the Pentium-4-M.

Jaxx1 is correct. The Pentium 4 and Pentium M do not have the same slot and thus cannot be swapped with echother. Out of curiosity, why would you want to put a P4 in an nc6000? The Pentium M is a more powerful chip even at a lower clock speed (my Compaq Evo N620c with a 1.6 P-M is faster than the N610c which has a 2.4 P-4).

The R40 was available with a Pentium M processor as well as a Pentium 4. The nc6000 was Pentium M only.
