So off the recommendation of ppl in this forum I filed a complaint through the BBB to hp about the dynamic switching problem with opengl apps. Well now Hp has called me because of this. Theycleft a message saying I need to call back. Problem is that I don't really know the ins and outs of this problem and I'm nit really sure it even effects me. I lightly game and browse the web.
So my question is... what should I say when I call him back?
Thanks

you gotta make him feel bad.
Tell him you bought your son a new laptop for his birthday and he plays minecraft and he's 8 years old. But minecraft runs so bad and your son is so sad because he can't play minecraft. Tell the guy he ruined your son's birthday -
when you try to run openGL programs like adobe software and minecraft, the laptop only uses the intel HD graphics even when you have said program set to high performance. mention that the 6770m is supposed to be compatible with openGL programs

Don't lie, it's not going to make a difference. dwalk1989 is correct: just tell him that OpenGL should work with the discreet GPU, but it doesn't. Ask if there are drivers that fix this issue.
If, by some miracle, they do provide you with drivers that they claim resolve the issue, the fastest way to check this is to run a benchmark. One of the more popular ones is Cinebench 11.5. It has an OpenGL test -- run that in 64-bit mode. Notebookcheck says that Intel graphics gets a score of 8.8 while the 6770M gets 48.3. You may not get those exact value, but you can't miss the difference: if the score is more than 20, you've definitely got the 6770M to work. -
yeah ask him if he is aware of the model wide problem in the pavilion dv6/dv7 involving the open gl compatibility with the radeon 6770. let him know that the graphics card is useless in open gl applications such as adobe products, CAD and other such multimedia and engineering softwares. stress that the graphics card is a sitting duck and its faulty. ask if their is a solution that is coming out anytime soon or what they plan on doing about the issue.

Quick points to be made to the HP resolution person.
1. OpenGL is supported by the ATI Radeon 6770m
2. The new multiplexer-less (muxless) design always has the Intel IGP running all the time while the Radeon is dynamic on or off depending on how you assign the program (power saving or high performance).
3. However, when assigning a program that uses or works better with OpenGL (mention Adobe Creative Suites) to the high performance mode, it will never kick in even if it listed in the Catalyst Center.
4. Thus, the card is neutered and you need to fix the problem by releasing drivers or some software that allow users to manually keep the Radeon ON at all times. BUT at the same time, allow for easy driver upgrades when ATI releases Catalyst upgrades (because we all know HP will take forever). -

Point him to this forum, and the first stickied post here, seriously. At least maybe it will garner some attention that way.

So today while checking the mail, there was a letter from HP telling me that they had tried to contact me about the issue and now its up to me to contact them within 7 days. I thought Id share this with you cause if they sent me a letter in the mail it seems like this is kinda serious... what do you guys think? Ill probly call them today or tomorrow

Probably just normal procedure for BBB complaints. Call them and point them to this forum.
