I can only hope some American and Canadian HP reps browse this board and spot this.

I am really curious as to why HP Canada seems to only want to sell the Envy 14 with a lower end CPU and no option for the higher res screen? It's bad enough that HP Canada doesn't allow any build-to-order options, then the only release a "low end" version for this model. Even the Envy 15 is only available with the 1366.768 screen.

What makes things worse is that HP.com will not ship outside of the US. It's really stupid that I want to buy this product but I can't. Why won't HP take my money?

I'm at the point where I keep checking to see what Asus, Dell, and others have available that will meet my needs. As soon as I find something I'm ready to jump on it.

This is just a really stupid move on HP's part in my mind as I know I'm not the only person outside of the US who feels this way. So if any HP reps, Canadian or American read this please pass this note on to your higher ups. Better yet if any American reps want to help sell me a BTO HP Envy 14 let me know.

    Thanks.

^ Agreed, why is Canada getting the crappier models? I haven't seen any laptops in Canada with the kind of specs and price combo that the US-specific Envy 14 has.

But I don't feel I should have to jump through hoops, exposing myself to opportunities where I could be ripped off. I am aware of other services that I tell them what I want and they put in the order but I have no experience with these types of services, so how am I to know who is tryst worthy.

I want to be able to buy a BTO system from HP, with the same options as HP.com so I know I'm not going to get ripped off, it's easy, and if I have any issues I can easily deal with HP to resolve them.

I've shifted my focus from trying to figure out how to get a decently spec'd Envy 14 to trying to find an alternative laptop.

They have been at this for a long time :( I wanted a 2140 netbook, but could only get crap res in canada, had to come down to the states to get the one with the good resolution.
