From the email I just rec'd from HP, I see the repair centre is a company called Teleplan just north of Toronto.

I'm under a tight time deadline, so I'm wondering if anyone knows whether I can personally drop the notebook off rather than waiting for UPS to send me the shipping package and then waiting for it to be delivered.

Obviously, I can drop it off after a half hour drive much faster. :)

    Any experience with this?

you are not aloud to do that because of security reasons. And it is easier for them, just getting a big UPS shipment. even give em a call and ask, but i am telling you, they won't let you. Sorry to tell you that, but thats how it works.
