I have heard that if you get an HP Care pack you must wait 30 days from the date of purchase of the care pack before you can submit any repair claims to be covered by the extended warranty. Is this true? I didn't see any reference to a 30 day waiting period in my care pack documentation.

If you purchase a unit with the extended care pack and activate the care pack the day your unit arrives, that date becomes your warranty date and extends from that date through the length of your extended protection plan (2,3,4 years etc.). I typically wait a day or two to make sure all is well before activating the extended plans.
I have 3 year ADP for both the units listed below but have never been faced with an issue within the first 30 days. That said, while I've never heard or read anything about a 30 day wait period, you have 21 days to do a return if you're not satisfied with a new HP unit after the purchase anyway. "IF" the 30 day wait period were true, which I don't belive it is, that would only leave a 9 day window before you could just return it for repair.
If you are adding a Care Pack after the original purchase date but within the original warranty period read here. You may want to check for your specific unit but I don't think they differ much between units.
Hope that helps.
